Sri VidyaPrasanna Teertharu has undertaken a significant and compassionate initiative to safeguard the lives of countless cows through a dedicated Cow Protection Project. This noble effort, rooted in the ancient tradition of reverence for cows in Hinduism, focuses on preventing cows from being turned into commercial products, ensuring their protection and well-being.
Under this initiative, Sri VidyaPrasanna Teertharu has established Go Shaales (cow shelters) in Kukke Subrahmanya and Kenchammana Hosakote, Hassan District. These shelters provide a safe haven for cows that would otherwise have been at risk of being slaughtered or exploited for commercial purposes. In these Go Shaales, the cows are given proper care, shelter, and nourishment, ensuring they live out their natural lives in peace and dignity.
The project has already been successful in saving hundreds of cows from such tragic fates. Each cow rescued represents not just a life saved, but also a stand against the cruelty often associated with the commercial exploitation of animals. The Go Shaales are run with great dedication and require substantial financial support, with thousands of rupees invested in their upkeep. This includes the costs of feeding the cows, maintaining their shelters, providing medical care, and other essential resources to ensure their well-being.
The project not only aims to protect cows but also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of compassion towards animals, promoting a culture of respect and care for all living beings. Sri VidyaPrasanna Teertharu's efforts reflect a deep commitment to the values of ahimsa (non-violence) and the preservation of traditional Hindu values, where cows are revered as sacred and are seen as symbols of wealth, nourishment, and prosperity.
As the project continues to grow, it plays an increasingly important role in promoting the welfare of cows and creating a compassionate society that prioritizes animal rights. The initiative is a testament to the Matha’s broader vision of promoting not only spiritual growth but also social responsibility and ethical treatment of all creatures.
